Diné One of three major territories
worldwide, Diné is comprised of a relatively homogenous population of
pre-glacial North American Indian peoples, primarily from the former Navajo,
Hopi, Apache and Pima tribes. The Diné live under conditions more severe
than most other organized groups worldwide, but the main obstacle to official
statehood appears to be self-imposed. They follow an intensely isolationist
policy, and even their nearby neighbor California which is ready and
willing to help former USA citizens rarely hears from them. Offers of
assistance after times of storm or cold are rarely accepted. Visitors to
Diné territory usually encounter a friendly and quiet people scattered
amongst a loose-knit series of towns and villages which are themselves
relatively independent. The heart of Diné territory lies on the inland
plateau, sheltered amongst numerous deep valleys which protects their
cliff-hugging towns. |

DPS Acronym for Deployment Pod, Support. A
weapon system used to deliver MGV units to their targets. Support type pods are
combat units in their own right, and they typically attempt to remain attached
to the battlesite in order to provide direct power and fire support to friendly
MGV or "MEK' formations. DPS units usually carry a heavy compliment of direct
fire support weapons and systems for suppressing enemy defenses and
communications. |
